Cathay Pacific Order Propels Boeing 777X Sales to Forefront in August
SEATTLE – A substantial order from Cathay Pacific for 14 Boeing 777-9 aircraft dominated Boeing’s sales figures for August,contributing to a total of 26 aircraft sold for the month.This influx of orders brings the total 777X family backlog to 624 aircraft. Boeing has sold 84 new aircraft of the B-777x family this year.
The Cathay Pacific deal represents over half of Boeing’s announced sales for August and underscores continued demand for the long-range 777X despite previous production challenges. additional orders announced in August included 2 B-737 Max for Tui United Kingdom, 3 B-737 Max for an unidentified customer, and 5 B-787-9 for another undisclosed buyer.
beyond sales,Boeing demonstrated important progress in deliveries,with 57 aircraft handed over to customers. This figure marks the company’s strongest August performance as 2018 and surpasses the total number of deliveries for all of 2024, wich was 348 due to a work stoppage on the U.S. West Coast. Through August 31, 2025, Boeing has recorded 635 aircraft sold and 385 delivered.
The August deliveries consisted of 41 B-737 MAX aircraft, 1 B-737-700 (destined for conversion into a Wedgetail), 1 KC-46 tanker for japan, 4 B-777F freighters, 8 B-787-9 dreamliners, and 1 B-787-10 Dreamliner. June saw a higher number of deliveries with 60 aircraft.
