Billy Gunn Reveals Two Stress Fractures in Back, Continues to Compete in AEW
Veteran wrestler Billy Gunn, in his 60s, has revealed he is currently competing in All Elite Wrestling while managing two stress fractures in his back. Gunn, who has wrestled professionally for nearly 40 years, discussed his physical condition during a recent appearance on Fuel & Flex with Charlie William Parks.
“I love to squat. I don’t know what it is indeed. I’m not a huge squatter. I don’t know what it is indeed. I love the feeling, I love the movement,” Gunn stated. “But I have two stress fractures in my back that absolutely smoke me when I do it.”
Despite the pain, Gunn remains committed to incorporating squats into his training regimen. He explained he’s adapted his technique to mitigate risk. “I refuse not to do it. I’m not gonna do it. I found ways to make myself feel safer doing it just in case my back-every time I squat, I box squat,” Gunn said.”I just stretch and go, only because if something goes, I know that I have something that I can go to instead of going whoom! trying to wipe out half the gym,” he laughed.
Gunn currently holds a dual role with AEW, working as both a producer and an active in-ring talent.
