ROSEMONT, Ill. – Michigan State’s ​McCoy Biagioli and Purdue’s Andre Zhu earned Big Ten‌ Co-Golfer of the Week honors, the conference announced Tuesday, following standout performances at the Island Resort Intercollegiate. Both players finished tied for third place at the season-opening​ tournament, signaling strong starts to their respective campaigns.The weekly award recognizes remarkable individual performances within the Big Ten men’s​ golf landscape. Biagioli and Zhu’s achievements highlight the early ⁣talent emerging this season and set a high bar for competition as the‌ fall‌ tournament schedule progresses. ‌This recognition not only ‍elevates their individual ‍profiles but also reflects positively on‍ the growing strength ⁣of Big Ten golf programs.Biagioli, a junior from White Lake, Michigan, carded a 15-under par 201 (67-69-65) at the Island Resort Intercollegiate. His 54-hole total is​ tied for the second-lowest in Michigan State program history, just one stroke shy of Drew Hackett’s school record set in 2022. Biagioli recorded 17 birdies and played 52 of 54 holes at or below par, with bogey-free rounds in the first and final rounds of the tournament.⁣ The ⁢last Spartan to receive the honor was Lorenzo Pinili ‍on ‍March 6, 2025.

zhu, a freshman from​ Richmond Hill, Ontario, also finished with a 15-under par 201 (68-65-68) in ⁣his collegiate debut. His score ranks‌ as⁣ the ​third-lowest 54-hole total in Purdue history, and he became only the fourth player in program history to record three ‌rounds of ⁤68 or better in ‌the same tournament. Zhu totaled 17 birdies, 35 pars,‍ and just two bogeys throughout the event.
