COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Ithaca College field hockey players Eliza Ballaro and Reese Abrahamson have been recognized for their outstanding seasons,earning all-Region III honors from the National Field Hockey coaches Association (NFHCA) announced December 3. Ballaro was named to the first team,while Abrahamson secured a spot on the second team.
The All-Region selections highlight the remarkable talent within the Liberty League and division III field hockey, serving as a key step in identifying All-American candidates. These awards acknowledge the players’ contributions to their teams’ success and their individual performances throughout the season. The NFHCA will continue to announce postseason accolades, including Regional Players of the Year on December 11, All-american teams on December 16, and the National Player of the Year on december 18.
Ballaro, a senior midfielder and team captain, started all 19 games for the Bombers, finishing the season with four goals and three assists for 11 points – the fourth-highest total on the team.She scored two game-winning goals and demonstrated impact on both offense and defense. This recognition follows her earlier selection to the Liberty league First Team.
Abrahamson, a senior defender and captain, appeared in all 19 games, anchoring a defensive unit that ranked eighth nationally in goals against average. Ithaca recorded nine shutouts during its 12-7 campaign. Throughout her career, Abrahamson played in 67 contests with 39 starts, earning First Team All-Liberty League honors this season, along with All-academic recognition for the third consecutive year.She is a four-time NFHCA Academic Squad honoree and was also named to the NFHCA Senior Team.
