CLARKSVILLE, Tenn.- Teh Austin Peay State University soccer team seeks its first ASUN Conference victory Sunday when it hosts North Alabama at 1 p.m. (CT) at Morgan Bros. Field. The governors are coming off a 1-1 draw against Central Arkansas, earning a point in consecutive matches as they conclude thier final home stand of the season.
Austin peay (0-9-5, 0-4-2 ASUN) faces a North Alabama squad (6-4-4, 2-2-2 ASUN) currently third in the ASUN Gold Division with eight points – six ahead of the Govs. A win for Austin Peay would not only mark their first conference win but also deliver head coach Kim McGowan’s 50th career victory and 16th at the helm of the Governors.
Junior midfielder Vivian Burke scored her team-leading third goal of the season in Thursday’s draw against Central arkansas, leveling the match after the Bears took an early lead in the 29th minute. sunday’s contest will be the seventh meeting between the two programs.
Austin Peay holds an 82-62-31 all-time record at Morgan Bros. Field, though they are 1-6-3 in their last ten home games. Historically, the Governors are 4-3-1 on Oct. 12, with their last game on this date resulting in a scoreless draw against Kennesaw State in 2023. their last win on Oct. 12 was a 1-0 victory at SIUE in 2014.
