Wilson and Barbara Broccoli have officially confirmed that a new James Bond film is in development with Steven Knight, creator of the acclaimed series “Peaky Blinders,” attached to write the screenplay. The announcement follows months of speculation regarding the future of the iconic 007 franchise after Daniel Craig’s departure following “No Time To Die” (2021).
Wilson and Broccoli, who have overseen the James Bond series since 1995, expressed their enthusiasm in a joint statement: “We are thrilled to announce that Steven Knight is joining us on the next chapter of James Bond. The search for the next James Bond has been a prominent topic of discussion, with actor Tom Holland frequently mentioned as a potential candidate.Holland addressed the rumors during an appearance on chef Gordon Ramsay’s YouTube series, stating, “Listen, there’s speculation at the minute… we’ll keep it to a minimum for now… we’ll get there one day.”
Holland, 27, has intentionally stepped back from consistent acting roles to prioritize personal time and avoid burnout.His last major screen appearances were in the action-adventure film “Uncharted” (February 18, 2022), grossing $401.2 million worldwide, and the Apple TV+ miniseries “The Crowded Room” (June 9, 2023). He has spoken openly about the importance of setting boundaries in his career.
“I feel really blessed to be at a point in my career where I can take time off, reset, and come back ready to go,” Holland told British GQ. “You can’t be in every movie, and you can’t do your best work when you’re burnt out. What I’ve learnt is that it’s crucial to set boundaries – to be mindful about overworking. I’ve got a slightly busy year next year, and then I’ll probably take a bit more time off in 2027. We’ll see.”
Holland’s upcoming projects include starring roles in Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey,” slated for release in July 2026, and “Spider-man: Brand New day,” also scheduled for July 2026. He initially teased the “Spider-Man” project on Instagram on August 2, 2023. “The odyssey” will be filmed in various locations across Europe, including Malta and Italy, and is based on Homer’s epic poem.
