Alonso, Hamilton Involved in on-Track Incident Following Near Miss at Mexico GP
Mexico City, Mexico – October 24, 2025 – Fernando Alonso appeared visibly frustrated and engaged in a heated exchange with lewis Hamilton during practice for the Mexico Grand Prix, following a close call on track. The incident, captured on onboard footage and circulating widely on social media, occurred after Alonso ran closely behind Hamilton, seemingly believing he had been blocked.
Alonso finished the day with the eighth fastest time, just over half a second behind Max Verstappen. While the day initially appeared productive for the Spaniard, onboard camera footage revealed a tense confrontation with Hamilton. The incident unfolded as Alonso maneuvered alongside HamiltonS Ferrari, appearing to make contact and then directing his frustration towards the British driver.
The footage shows Alonso removing both hands from the steering wheel to deliver a sarcastic round of applause in Hamilton’s direction. This gesture required a rapid correction from Alonso to avoid a collision as both drivers navigated a turn.
Hamilton experienced a challenging day, ceding his car to test and reserve driver Antonio Fuoco during the first free practice session. He later managed the fifth fastest time in the second practice, 0.300 seconds behind Verstappen.
The cause of Alonso’s initial frustration remains unclear, but the on-track exchange has drawn attention ahead of qualifying and the race. The stewards have not yet announced any investigation into the incident. This event adds another layer of intrigue to the championship battle as drivers prepare for the remainder of the Mexico Grand Prix weekend.
