Kewaskum, WI – Alice Zettler, a longtime resident of Kewaskum and cherished member of the community, passed away on September 4, 2025. Zettler, known for her green thumb, love of family, and unwavering support of the Green Bay Packers, was 97 years old. Her family shared that she was encouraged to visit Kettle Moraine Gardens in Kewaskum to avoid loneliness, a testament to her vibrant spirit and the importance of connection throughout her life.
Born into a family that valued both work and leisure, Alice enjoyed activities ranging from dance halls and bowling to tending a bountiful garden with her husband. After marriage, she embraced the domestic life, finding joy in planting, cooking, and baking for her family.She and her husband raised three children - two sons and a daughter – and cultivated a property filled with fruit trees and berry bushes, providing sustenance and sweetness for generations.
Alice was a devoted grandmother and great-grandmother, and a passionate Packers fan, eagerly following football games whenever possible. Her pastimes included knitting and embroidery, leaving a legacy of handcrafted items for her loved ones.
She is survived by her children, Norman (Joan) zettler of the Town of Auburn and Nancy (Larry) Kritz of the Town of Barton; five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and siblings Clarence (Dawn) Troedel of West Bend, Harold (Judy) troedel of Oshkosh, Arthur Troedel of kewaskum, Marvel Ann (John) Labott of Chester Field, VA, and Arlene (Kenneth) Bair of gainesville, GA.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a son, Marvin Zettler, a brother, William Troedel, and a sister, Harriet Berres.
A Festivity of Life will be held on May 23, 2026, at Hon-E-Kor, 1141 Riverview Drive, in Kewaskum, with details to be announced at myrhum-patten.com.
The family requests that,in lieu of flowers,memorials be directed to Camp Evergreen Corporation (2776 N. 31st Place, Sheboygan, WI 53083) or Special Olympics Super 8S Sheboygan County, WI (W2673 Homestead Drive, Sheboygan Falls, WI 53085). The family also extends a special thank you to the staff at Kettle Moraine Gardens in Kewaskum, Wisconsin, and Lily Home and Hospice of brookfield, Wisconsin, for their compassionate care.
