Adidas Unveils 14th Iteration of Barricade Tennis Shoe with New Foam Technology
PORTLAND, OR – December 5, 2025 – Adidas today launched the latest version of its flagship barricade tennis shoe, introducing Lightstrike Pro foam cushioning in the forefoot for improved energy return and a lighter overall design. The Barricade, a popular franchise for players of all levels, receives its 14th update with a focus on enhanced comfort, stability, and durability.
The new Barricade marks a shift for Adidas tennis footwear, traditionally focusing foam cushioning in the heel. The addition of Lightstrike Pro foam in the forefoot aims to provide a more effective toe-off during movement, while Repetitor foam remains in the heel for shock absorption. An updated outsole, Lighttraxion – previously used in Adidas running shoes – is designed to improve traction and reduce weight.
“Extensively tested in collaboration with our elite athletes, insights gathered revealed demand for a lighter and more comfortable design,” said Annette Steingass, senior director specialist for sports apparel at Adidas. “The latest silhouette reaffirms our drive to provide stability and comfort in one foundational shoe, and we can’t wait to see it on courts all over the world.”
Additional updates include a cushioned collar for a snug heel fit and a cushioned tongue for added comfort. The shoe ($170) will debut with a classic black and white colorway as the 2026 season begins, and will be worn by Adidas athletes including Daria Kasatkina, Karolina Muchova, Francisco Cerundolo, Felix Auger-Aliassime and Stefanos Tsitsipas at the Australian Open.
