15-Year-Old Quantum Physics Doctorate Holder Eyes Human Augmentation
MUNICH – Laurent Simons, age 15, has earned a doctorate in quantum physics, completing the advanced degree after accelerating thru bachelor’s and master’s programs in record time. The young scientist’s ambition extends beyond theoretical physics; he envisions a future where technology dramatically enhances human capabilities, potentially extending lifespan and creating what he terms “super-humans.”
Simons’ rapid academic ascent has already attracted attention from high-net-worth investors intrigued by his potential. While no firm commitments have been made, the interest underscores the growing intersection of cutting-edge science and venture capital, especially in fields like biotechnology and human enhancement. His journey highlights a shift in educational paradigms and raises questions about the future of accelerated learning.
According to an interview with HLN, Simons is deeply fascinated by “everything related to cyborgs and the following question: how can we improve the human body through technology.” He articulated his ultimate goal succinctly: ”My biggest dream is to enable people to live longer.”
Currently completing his doctoral work in Munich, Simons anticipates needing another year and a half to two years to finalize his research. Despite the intense focus on his studies and the burgeoning interest in his work, he intends to balance his scientific pursuits with experiencing a typical adolescence.
