Nursery Fees in Legionowo to Rise Over 60%, Sparking Parent Concerns

Legionowo, Poland Parents in Legionowo,⁣ a city near Warsaw, are facing a significant increase in nursery fees, jumping over 60%, despite assurances from city authorities ‍that no family will ultimately pay ‍more if they utilize available government support. The fee hike, ⁤intended to address rising operational costs, is prompting ⁢skepticism ‌and anxiety among families, notably regarding the future of the “Actively in the nursery” program.

The city justifies the increase by citing the escalating costs of running the nursery⁢ facility, including employee ⁣salaries, utilities, and equipment.Officials state the current cost ‍to maintain one nursery place is approximately‍ PLN 2,500 (approximately $600 USD) per month, exceeding the current fees charged to parents. The⁢ increase aims to create more sustainable financing ⁢to cover this difference.

However, the ample 60% increase has raised concerns. Parents fear ‍that potential‌ cuts to the “Actively ‍in the nursery” program – a⁣ government initiative providing financial assistance for ‌childcare – could leave ⁢them bearing the full brunt of the new costs.

“Some residents are skeptical about the⁤ changes,” the report notes, with many questioning whether the increased fees will genuinely translate into improved ⁤service‍ quality.⁤ Residents are hoping to see tangible improvements through⁤ the introduction of new ‌activities and‍ specialists.

Adding to the financial ⁤pressure, the city is also increasing fees for additional hours of care. This poses a particular challenge for parents with flexible work schedules, perhaps forcing them to reorganize thier daily routines.

Crucially, parents wishing to avoid the full PLN 1,500 (approximately $360 ⁣USD) monthly cost⁣ must apply for funding through the “Actively in the nursery” program via the Social‍ Insurance Institution (ZUS) using the‍ PUE platform⁤ or mZUS application. The funding is paid directly to the ‍nursery, effectively covering the parent’s fees.

The city is urging parents‍ to complete the application process well in advance to avoid unexpected costs and ⁣ensure continued affordable childcare. Failure to apply will result in parents being responsible for the full monthly ‍fee.

This situation highlights the ongoing challenges faced by working families in Poland navigating the costs of⁢ childcare and the importance of staying informed⁣ about available government support programs.
