timothée Chalamet Pitches Absurd ‘Marty Supreme‘ Marketing Stunts in Viral Zoom Meeting

LOS ANGELES, November 16, 2023 – Timothée Chalamet unveiled a series of increasingly outlandish ‍promotional ideas for his upcoming⁢ film, Marty Supreme, during a recent Zoom meeting wiht A24 marketers, footage of wich‌ has quickly circulated online. The actor proposed concepts ranging from ⁣painting landmarks orange to deploying a ping-pong‍ ball “rain” from a blimp⁣ over ‍a music festival, all delivered⁤ with deliberate deadpan humor.

The viral clip offers a glimpse into the unconventional marketing strategy for Marty Supreme, a project ⁢generating significant buzz ⁤ahead of its release. Chalamet’s willingness to embrace absurdity is a key component of the film’s campaign, aiming to capture attention in a crowded media landscape‌ and appeal to a younger audience ⁢familiar ⁣with ‍his playful public ‌persona. The success⁣ of this ‍approach could influence future film marketing tactics,‌ demonstrating the power‌ of leaning into an actor’s personality and embracing unconventional promotional avenues.

During the meeting, Chalamet initially suggested painting iconic landmarks – including the Statue of Liberty ⁣and the Eiffel ‍Tower - in the signature orange color associated with Marty Supreme. He then presented a rudimentary drawing of a blimp, reportedly ⁣created by a visual artist over six months, which onlookers ⁢playfully acknowledged despite its‍ simplistic design.

The conversation shifted⁣ to Tyler, the Creator’s⁣ Camp Flog Gnaw festival, which was recently postponed due to weather in Los angeles and is now scheduled for ‌November 22 and 23. Chalamet proposed having⁤ the⁣ blimp fly over the festival and‌ release branded ping-pong balls onto ‍the crowd. When a marketer raised safety concerns, Chalamet responded, “I don’t want to put‍ anybody in an unsafe condition, but I don’t want to be too safe about ‌putting out this movie.” He continued, “if it’s the difference between, ⁤you know what I mean, someone losing an arm putting out the movie, but ⁣someone gaining an arm intellectually when they see it, ⁣I’m a fan of the latter.”

With the film’s release ⁢approaching around the Christmas ‌season, further unconventional promotional efforts from Chalamet are anticipated. Marty Supreme is expected to release in the coming weeks.
