The frist half saw several scoring opportunities thwarted by Vargas. At the 30th minute, a goal attempt was denied by the attentive goalkeeper. Later, Ozziel Herrera had a chance following a long pass from Romulo, but Vargas again intervened, sending the ball to a corner.
