tiger Woods‘ “The Loop” at Augusta‘s The Patch Nears Completion, Set to Open in 2026

AUGUSTA, GA – Construction of “The Loop,” a ⁢nine-hole short course at The Patch in augusta, Georgia, designed by ⁤tiger Woods and in partnership with Augusta National, is progressing rapidly with ⁤an anticipated opening in 2026. Recent images and updates ⁣reveal significant strides in course planning, including the sprigging of‌ greens and ⁤construction of a new clubhouse.

The project, located along damascus Road near the Augusta Regional Airport, aims to expand access to ⁣golf and honor ‌the‌ legacy of Augusta native and pioneering Black golfer Jim Dent. The course will consist of nine one-shot holes and will be⁤ complemented by a 25,000-square-foot putting course, a putting green, and a short game area for the First Tee of Augusta. The development signifies a major investment ‍in the local golf⁤ community and‌ a commitment to making the sport more inclusive.

“The Patch means a lot to me because it⁢ was the first time‍ the city of Augusta had enough pride to put my name on a road,” Dent said in 2020. ‌”It means a lot to me to see my name ‌someplace where someone thought a lot of you.” A street named Jim Dent Way ⁣will lead to ‌the new clubhouse, serving as a lasting tribute to the ⁣golfer who passed away in May.

The Loop is situated approximately three miles from Augusta National Golf Club and is expected to draw significant interest, particularly during Masters week. Local photographer Katie ⁢Goodale recently captured images of the construction progress for the Augusta⁣ Chronicle, which can be⁤ viewed here.
