Thousands line streets for Ricky Hatton’s funeral in Manchester

Thousands of⁣ mourners lined the streets of Manchester today to ‌pay ‍thier respects to boxing legend⁢ Ricky Hatton, whose funeral was held at ⁣Manchester Cathedral. The procession, a testament to Hatton’s enduring popularity, paused at significant locations including the Harehill Tavern, The New inn, and ‍his former⁢ gym, Hatton’s Gym, before culminating at the⁣ Etihad‌ Stadium, home of his favorite football club, Manchester City.

The service,‌ described as “a service of thanksgiving” on the order of service, celebrated the life and career⁢ of the Stockport-born fighter who captivated a nation with his aggressive style⁤ and working-class appeal. Following the cathedral service, the procession travelled to the Harehill ⁢Tavern, where doves were released⁣ in Hatton’s honor at The New Inn. ​Emotional fans gathered at Hatton’s Gym, ‌singing and sharing memories.
