This 10-year-old lost both his legs to the flu. Now he’s fighting back as a comic book superhero.

Grand Blanc, MI – A 10-year-old grand Blanc ‌boy who lost both legs to complications from the flu is now using his story to‌ educate and empower others as the superhero ⁢”Kaden Blaze” in a newly released comic book.Kaden Stevenson unveiled ​the comic at a full school assembly at Brendel Elementary School on​ Thursday, Sept. 25,2025.

The comic book details Kaden’s personal battle with⁢ the flu, which ultimately ⁢led⁣ to the amputation of both of his legs, and⁤ frames his experience within​ a superhero narrative designed to educate youth about flu prevention ⁤and ‍the importance of vaccination.proceeds from “Kaden ‌Blaze Fights Flu Bug” will benefit ⁣Families Fighting‍ Flu, a national non-profit organization dedicated to protecting families from⁣ the flu.

Families Fighting Flu was founded in part⁢ by⁢ Zach Yaksich ‌of West Bloomfield, ‍whose daughter Alana died ⁢in 2003 at age 5 due to flu complications. “The organization has‍ grown, unfortunately, because of continued tragedy, but we do great work,” Yaksich said. The ​organization advocates for flu education and prevention, with a particular focus‌ on vaccination.

Yaksich emphasized the importance of flu prevention efforts, stating,‌ “It’s ⁣more significant ‍now than ever, ‍especially with what’s going on and misinformation out ⁢there scaring people.”
