Atlético de Madrid has finalized an agreement with Botafogo for the acquisition of midfielder Thiago Almada,according to Argentine journalist César Luis Merlo. The deal, announced Tuesday night, July 15, involves an initial €21 million (approximately R$135 million) for 50% of the player’s economic rights.

The transfer agreement includes potential add-ons, with an additional €5 million (R$32 million) contingent upon the achievement of specific performance objectives. Almada is set to sign a contract with the Spanish club that will keep him there until June 2030.

Further bolstering the long-term commitment, Atlético de Madrid will be obligated to purchase the remaining 50% of Almada’s rights from botafogo for an additional €10 million (R$64.5 million) should they not sell the player within the next three years.

While both Botafogo and Atlético de Madrid confirmed the transfer agreement on Tuesday, the financial specifics of the transaction were not officially disclosed at the time of the announcement.
