Theodore “Ted” Adamyk, a World War II and Korean War veteran and long-time North Dakota resident, died February 21, 2026, at the age of 100, according to announcements from Eastgate Funeral Service and family statements.

Born August 16, 1925, in Wilton, North Dakota, to Dimitri “Matt” and Mary (Hryckow) Adamyk, Ted’s early life was marked by the challenges of the Great Depression and the loss of his father in 1932. Following his father’s death, his mother relocated the family to a mine house moved from Chapin, North Dakota, to their farmstead near Painted Woods Creek. As a child, Adamyk supplemented the family income by operating a trap line along the creek.

Adamyk enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1944 and served in the Philippines as part of a three-man field artillery team. He later served in Korea before being discharged in 1946. His experiences during the war, according to accounts shared with family, profoundly influenced his later life and commitment to community service.

In 1952, Adamyk married Jeanette Danielson in Wilton. Together, they raised six children and had 19 grandchildren. He pursued a variety of careers throughout his life, including work as a surveyor for the North Dakota Highway Department and as a co-owner of a local gas station. He later transitioned to farming and ranching.

Adamyk was actively involved in the Wilton community, serving on the Grass Lake School board and the Township board. He was as well a dedicated member of the Mission Evangelical Free Church.

Visitation services are scheduled for February 27, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Eastgate Funeral Service in Bismarck, North Dakota. A second visitation will be held on February 28, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Mission Evangelical Free Church in Wilton, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM.
