Spinal Tap’s Long-Awaited Sequel Features Cameos From Elton John,⁢ Paul McCartney

The world’s ⁤loudest band, Spinal Tap, is back with a new film, ‍ Spinal Tap II: ⁢The End Continues, hitting cinemas this⁢ Friday,⁣ September 12th, alongside the release of ⁢their latest soundtrack. The mockumentary sequel ⁤boasts surprise ⁤appearances ⁢from music legends Sir Elton John and Sir Paul ⁢mccartney, adding a new chapter to the band’s decades-long saga of rock ‘n’ roll mishaps⁣ and enduring appeal.

For fans of the original 1984 film, This Is Spinal Tap,‍ the‌ sequel represents a return to the groundbreaking satire that defined a generation of music comedy. But beyond the laughs, the film’s arrival speaks to the ⁤enduring legacy of the band and the ⁤continued relevance of ⁤their send-up of ⁣rock‌ star excess. ‍With a new generation discovering the original, and the sequel promising fresh⁤ material, Spinal Tap’s influence is set ⁣to resonate with both longtime devotees and newcomers ⁣alike.

Members Nigel Tufnel and David St.Hubbins reflected on collaborating⁣ with the iconic musicians, expressing a sense of reverence. “You feel like bowing,” Tufnel admitted, while St. Hubbins added, ⁣”A nod anyway, a touch of forelock.”

sir McCartney is featured playing “Cups and Cakes” with the band and notably commented that ⁢the lyric “pink torpedo” from their song “Big Bottom” is, in ‌fact, “literature.” Sir ‍Elton John, fresh off the conclusion of his farewell tour at Glastonbury 2023, joins Spinal Tap onstage ⁢for ⁤a live performance of “Stonehenge,” alongside new tracks like “Rockin’ in the Urn” and “The Devil’s Not Just Getting Old.”

The film hints at‌ the possibility of Spinal Tap finally achieving mainstream success ‍in America, a goal famously thwarted in the original mockumentary. St. Hubbins wryly noted, “They‌ came to see us one time but we didn’t meet them afterwards. They’re youngsters compared to us,” referencing the band Oasis.

Spinal Tap II: The end Continues and its accompanying soundtrack are available starting Friday,‌ September⁢ 12th.
