Toledo, Ohio – A recently released trailer for the upcoming sitcom, ‘The Paper,’ has sent ripples of excitement through television audiences, largely due too a surprise appearance by Oscar Nunez, best known for his role as Oscar Martinez in the acclaimed series ‘The Office.’ The new show, created by the team behind ‘The office,’ promises a similar mockumentary style, this time focusing on the daily lives of employees at the Toledo Truth-Teller newspaper.

The trailer, unveiled on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, showcases Domhnall Gleeson as the editor-in-chief of the struggling local newspaper. The series will follow a documentary crew as they chronicle the challenges and absurdities of modern journalism in a rapidly changing media landscape. The Toledo Truth-Teller, a fictional newspaper, is depicted as serving a city of approximately 287,000 residents.

Nunez’s cameo, appearing towards the end of the trailer, has sparked considerable buzz online, with fans speculating about the nature of his character and potential connections to his role in ‘The Office.’ The cast also includes Tim Key, Sabrina Impacciatore, Chelsea Frei, Ramona Young, alex Edelman, Gbemisola Ikumelo, and Melvin Gregg. Ricky Gervais, co-creator of ‘The Office,’ is not directly involved in ‘the paper’ but has publicly expressed support for the project.

‘The Paper’ is slated to premiere in 2025, with the first season consisting of ten episodes. Production took place primarily in Toledo, Ohio, utilizing several local landmarks as filming locations, including the historic Secor Hotel and the Toledo Museum of Art. The show is a co-production between BBC Studios and Global Television.
