The film, announced in January 2024, picks up after the fall of the Galactic Empire. According to the official synopsis, the New Republic is working to secure the peace won by the rebellion, aided by the Mandalorian and his young apprentice, Grogu.
The trailer showcases Din Djarin and Grogu facing a variety of new threats, including robots, colossal beasts, and Rotta el Hutt - son of Jabba, played by Jeremy Allen White - in a desert showdown. A particularly striking scene depicts the duo felling a massive AT-AT walker.
The cast also includes Sigourney Weaver as a fighter pilot and Jonny Coyne as an Imperial War Lord. Familiar faces from the Star Wars universe will also appear, including Babu Frik (from The rise of Skywalker) and Zeb Orrelios (from Star Wars Rebels).

The film expands on the popular dynamic established in The Mandalorian, wich centers on the unlikely bond between the bounty hunter Din Djarin and Grogu, a Force-sensitive creature of the same species as Yoda.
