Colbert Reportedly to Continue Hosting “The Late Show” Amidst Network Changes

Stephen colbert is reportedly set to continue his tenure as host of CBS’s “The Late Show,” according to sources close to the production. The news comes as the network navigates broader changes within its parent company, Paramount Global. Colbert has hosted the iconic late-night program since September 2015, succeeding David Letterman who helmed the show from 1993 to 2015. “The Late Show” is filmed at the historic Ed Sullivan Theater in Manhattan.

Recent Nielsen ratings indicate that Colbert’s program is currently leading its time slot, drawing approximately 2.417 million viewers across 41 new episodes. The show has also been noted as the only late-night program to have gained viewers year-to-date.

Colbert’s career in late-night television began wiht his work on “the Daily Show” on Comedy Central, where he gained prominence under the mentorship of Jon Stewart.Stewart himself recently made a jest about former President donald Trump’s business dealings, referencing a potential merger and a lawsuit settlement, humorously comparing the situation to a scene from the film “Goodfellas.”

“The Late Show” is recognized for its engaging celebrity interviews. In a recent notable segment, actor Joaquin Phoenix offered an apology and clarification for his widely discussed appearance on David Letterman’s iteration of the talk show in 2009.
