“Hotellet” Duo’s Matching Style Came at a Cost: Preparations Nearing Half a million Kroner
OSLO, Norway – Preparations for the popular reality show ”Hotellet” (“The Hotel”) involved expenses approaching 500,000 kroner, with participants Karsten Blomvik and Mohammed Basefer drawing attention for their coordinated outfits-sourced, in part, from Temu. The financial outlay, revealed during a recent press event, underscores the significant investment behind the scenes of the program, which challenges participants to run a hotel.
The costs encompass everything from wardrobe styling to logistical arrangements, highlighting the extensive effort required to bring the show to fruition. Blomvik and Basefer, specifically, received numerous compliments for their matching Temu shirts, a detail that emerged alongside discussion of the overall planning budget. The duo intentionally aimed for a unified look throughout the series, with Blomvik spearheading the effort to secure identical clothing for each episode.
Basefer noted he faced considerable persuasion from Blomvik to shop at Temu, but ultimately embraced the turtle-themed shirts as part of their synchronized style. “As we are a duo, we have to dress alike. I’ve always wanted a ‘partner in crime’ when it comes to clothing,” blomvik explained. “But it’s been a hell of a job to collect enough clothes that are exactly the same, but it’s really nice to be dressed the same.”
The revelation of the preparation costs comes as “Hotellet” continues to generate buzz, with program leader Aslak Maurstad recently addressing a separate legal matter involving allegations of fraud. The show’s ongoing season features a rotating cast of public figures tasked with managing a functioning hotel, offering viewers a glimpse into the challenges and rewards of the hospitality industry.
