The Glass Dome Season 2: Release Date, Cast & Plot Updates

March 22, 2026 Lucas Fernandez – World Editor World

The future of the Swedish crime drama The Glass Dome remains uncertain as Netflix has yet to announce a renewal for a second season, despite strong initial viewership and positive critical reception. The six-episode limited series, which premiered on April 15, 2025, captivated audiences with its suspenseful narrative and complex characters.

Created by Camilla Läckberg, who also served as executive producer, The Glass Dome follows Lejla, a behavioral scientist and criminologist, as she returns to her childhood hometown of Granås following the death of her adoptive mother. Her return coincides with the disappearance of a young girl, forcing Lejla to confront the trauma of her own past abduction. The series stars Léonie Vincent as Lejla Ness, alongside Johan Hedenberg as Valter Ness and Johan Rheborg as Tomas Ness.

Läckberg herself has expressed optimism about the possibility of a continuation, stating, “I already have a synopsis for season two. I definitely have thoughts on how this can continue.” She further explained, “I always think when I create a TV series that there will be more seasons. Then you have to see if there is interest from the channel and so on. But in my mind, when I am creatively working on this, I always think about some kind of continuation.”

While Netflix has not provided a firm timeline, industry analysts suggest that, should a renewal be granted soon, filming could be completed within a year, potentially leading to a release in early or mid-2027. The series currently holds a 6.7/10 rating on IMDb, based on over 12,000 viewer ratings, indicating a significant level of audience engagement.

The first season concluded with Lejla grappling with the resurfaced memories of her childhood trauma and beginning to investigate the disappearance of the young girl in Granås. The finale hinted at deeper, unresolved mysteries surrounding her abduction and the secrets hidden within the small community. A potential second season is expected to delve further into Lejla’s past, exploring the identity of her abductor and the full extent of the trauma she endured.

Season two could also explore the aftermath of the events in season one, focusing on the challenges faced by Lejla’s adoptive father, Valter Ness, following the death of his wife. The series may also reveal further details about the other residents of Granås and their potential connections to the ongoing mysteries.

The Glass Dome is currently available exclusively on Netflix, with all six episodes of the first season accessible to subscribers. The series is directed by Lisa Farzaneh and Henrik Björn, with a script written by Amanda Högberg and Axel Stjärne.
