Flood Warnings Remain in Place Across Wales as Storm Claudia Recovery Begins
Wales is continuing to grapple with the aftermath of Storm Claudia, with a major incident still declared and flood warnings remaining in effect as of Sunday, November 16. South Wales Fire and Rescue Service declared a major incident in the early hours of Saturday morning,and have yet to announce when it will be stood down.
Teams across Monmouthshire have been working through the night to address the impact of the flooding and are planning a clean-up operation for Sunday, focusing on Abergavenny, Monmouth, and Skenfrith. Street sweepers, jet washers, and mobile teams will be deployed to clear debris and reopen roads as floodwaters recede.
Authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant and adhere to safety guidelines:
* Keep away from swollen riverbanks
* Never walk or drive through floodwater
* If travel is necessary,check routes for diversions before setting off.
Monmouthshire Council stated, “our teams will continue working throughout the night to monitor and address any issues across the county.”
