Lin Chih-Sheng Charity Golf Tournament Raises 3.1 Million NTD
The final fundraising figure was achieved during the evening banquet when an anonymous donor stepped forward to cover a remaining deficit of 116,270 NTD, ensuring the full target was met without deducting any operational costs from the total donations.
The event expanded its scope this year by partnering with basketball star Chen Hsin-An, moving the initiative’s reach beyond baseball to support youth in multiple sporting disciplines.
Celebrity Support and on-Course Highlights
Television host Tseng Kuo-Cheng attended the tournament despite battling a severe cold that left him nearly immobile the previous day, joking to reporters that he was emotionally blackmailed into participating by Lin Chih-Sheng, whom he has known for many years. Stars.udn.com and LIFE 生活網 noted that Tseng praised Lin’s long-term dedication to grassroots charity, comparing the growth of the event to a mother hen guiding chicks as fundraising climbed from hundreds of thousands to millions over four editions. Tseng also recalled his own athletic achievement on the course, noting that he previously recorded a hole-in-one on October 4, 2007, and usually scores in the 80s.
The tournament featured numerous prominent figures acting as station checkpoint hosts, including baseball stars Kao Kuo-Chiang, Chen Yung-Chi, and Wang Sheng-Wei, alongside Tai You-Shan and Chen Ling-Chieh. Additional sports and entertainment personalities, including Yang Da-Zheng, Weng Tzu-Man, Tou Chung-Ko, Chen Chih-Chiang, and Min Hiong, participated in the day’s events. Evening auction highlights featured retiring basketball star Lin Chih-Jie and veteran baseball player Chen Yung-Chi donating personal memorabilia, alongside game-worn jerseys donated by Lin Chih-Sheng.
Expanding Resources Through Online Contributions
For the first time, the organizing committee introduced an online contribution platform alongside the physical event to allow remote supporters to purchase custom signed memorabilia or fund specific equipment requests.
Corporate partners including the National Treasure Group, Taiwan Fushing Industrial, TRANZEND, SRIXON, Porsche Center New Taipei City, and Johnnie Walker XR provided financial backing and underwriting support. The association confirmed that all funds gathered through registration fees, online purchases, and the banquet auction will be managed by the Chinese Taipei Indigenous Baseball Development Association to sustain ongoing athletic training programs in rural districts.
