## BMW Promises ‘Sheer driving Pleasure’ with Next-Generation Electric Series 3
MUNICH – BMW is developing an all-electric version of its popular 3 series, promising to deliver the brand’s signature driving experience alongside a projected 500-mile range. The new model, slated to arrive alongside a traditionally powered 3 Series, marks the first vehicle to utilize BMW’s ‘Neue Klasse’ platform, signaling a significant shift in the automaker’s electrification strategy.
The forthcoming electric 3 series is poised to impact a broad segment of the premium compact market, offering a compelling alternative to rivals like Tesla’s Model 3 and other emerging electric vehicles. BMW’s commitment to maintaining its ”sheer driving pleasure” ethos in an electric format, coupled with the extended range, aims to alleviate range anxiety and appeal to a wider customer base. The internal combustion engine version will continue on the existing CLAR platform, retaining inline-six and four-cylinder engine options.
BMW will integrate its new Panoramic iDrive system into the electric 3 Series. This system features a head-up display projected onto the windshield and a centrally-mounted, driver-focused touchscreen. The company states this design prioritizes driver focus by bringing key data closer to the driver’s line of sight.
The next-generation 3 Series, both electric and combustion, will share a similar design language. The current generation 3 Series (G20/G21) has been in production since 2019, suggesting the new models are expected to launch in the near future, though a specific premiere date remains undisclosed.
