LONDON – As anticipation builds for the finale of The Traitors, finalists are expressing surprise at the sheer scale of the show’s popularity and the unexpected reactions from thier personal networks. Nick Mohammed, a Faithful contestant nearing the end of the competition, revealed a surge in messages from acquaintances he hadn’t connected with in years, all tuning into the BBC One series.
The widespread viewership has been a revelation for the contestants, who underestimated the show’s reach despite it’s existing fanbase. Mohammed explained, “I knew obviously it was a popular show, I’m a big fan of the show.I didn’t anticipate quite how many people would be tuned into this.” This unexpected level of engagement has transformed The Traitors into a “multi-generational family show,” fostering a shared viewing experience across demographics.
Mohammed admitted he initially doubted his chances of reaching the final stages, particularly as a Faithful. “I think the answer is, no. I always hoped I’d make the final but no I think it’s perilous to anticipate that,” he stated. He described the Faithful’s journey as precarious, subject to both murder and banishment, leaving outcomes largely beyond individual control. “As a Faithful I thought, here we go, every day. You survive another day and you just look to the next day really. So what a joy to be in the final.”
The outpouring of support from family and friends has been “splendid” and “lovely,” according to Mohammed, highlighting the positive impact of the show’s ability to bring people together. The final episode of The Traitors is expected to air soon, determining which Faithful will claim the prize money and expose the remaining Traitors.
