Konnor and Viktor, formerly known as The Ascension, recently shared a story about Triple H defending them backstage during their time in NXT. They recounted the incident on the Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling podcast.
According to The Ascension, a well-known veteran was consistently berating them, making their lives difficult. They didn’t name the veteran, but described the situation as demoralizing. It wasn’t about wrestling; it was personal attacks.
“We were getting… just constantly berated,” Konnor explained. “It wasn’t even about wrestling. It was just personal stuff. This guy just hated us, and he would just constantly just… it was demoralizing.”
Viktor added that the veteran would try to undermine them in front of others. “He would try to make us look bad in front of other guys, and just constantly put us down,” he said.
The situation escalated until Triple H intervened. Apparently,he overheard some of the abuse and stepped in to address the veteran directly. Triple H reportedly told the veteran that while he was entitled to his opinion, he needed to stop the harassment.
“Triple H pulled him aside and was like, ‘You can think what you want about these guys, but you’re not going to treat them like this,’” viktor recalled. “He stood up for us, and it meant the world to us.”
Konnor emphasized how much Triple H’s support meant to them, especially early in their careers. “That was huge for us, man. Especially being young guys, and trying to find our way. For him to do that,it meant a lot.”
The Ascension acknowledged that Triple H always had their backs during their time in NXT, and they remain grateful for his support. They believe his belief in them helped them develop as performers.
