keiinos Fred Buljo Welcomed a Son,Band Kept News Secret to Focus on New Album
Oslo,Norway – KEiiNO vocalist fred Buljo and his partner recently welcomed a son,Ailo, but kept the news private while completing work on the band’s second studio album,”Chromium Heart,” released Friday. The band members say Buljo’s temporary step back allowed for a unique creative dynamic and unexpectedly revealed a new vocal dimension in his performance.
The decision to maintain secrecy stemmed from a desire to prioritize the album’s completion. While Buljo focused on fatherhood, bandmates tom Hugo and Alexandra Rotan continued songwriting. Rotan explained,”It was only natural that Fred should be allowed to be the father of the most lovely Ailo and enjoy that time.Tom and I worked on songs for our album when Fred had a papa binder, but since we are such a tight-knit group it worked out just fine that we weren’t full on that.” The band emphasizes their collaborative process allows for flexibility, with each member contributing at different paces.
Hermansen noted the shift in dynamic, describing it as a “home alone party” while Buljo was with his son. He added that Buljo typically acts as a calming influence within the group, and his absence initially led to increased spontaneity. However, the band discovered a previously unheard sensitivity in Buljo’s vocals during the recording process, which they attribute to his time focused on family. “We discovered that Fred has a sensitive falsetto that we hadn’t heard before, but which fit perfectly in the vocal mix. Maybe it was a few months where power-joking had been replaced with calm night songs that had made the difference,” Hermansen said.
Rotan expressed the band’s excitement about Ailo’s arrival, calling him a “lovely little boy” and looking forward to their roles as “extra” uncle and aunt. KEiiNO, known for their Eurovision success with “Spirit in the Sky,” released “Chromium Heart” on November 3rd. The album marks a new chapter for the band, both creatively and personally.
