Thailand to Revive “Half Each” Economic Stimulus Program with Tiered Benefits
Bangkok, September 15, 2024 – The Thai government, led by Prime Minister Anutin Charnwirakul, plans to reinstate the popular “Half Each” economic stimulus program, possibly as early as October 2025, utilizing a 25 billion baht budget allocated for 2026. the program will offer different levels of support based on individual income tax status.
According to the Ministry of Finance, approximately 11 million individual income taxpayers will be eligible for a “60:40” split, where the government covers 60% of purchases and the individual pays the remaining 40%. A second group, encompassing the general public and state welfare card holders, will receive a 50:50 cost-sharing arrangement.
“People can wait for the ‘Half Each’ project,” Prime Minister Anutin Charnwirakul stated today. The Ministry of Finance is expected to release detailed program guidelines and procedures shortly.
The original “Half Each” program required participants to register online and download specific applications: individuals used “Pao Tang” for spending,while stores utilized “Thong ma” to accept payments.
Eligibility for the revived program currently includes:
* Thai nationality with a valid identification card.
* Age 18 or older on the registration date.
* not currently a state welfare card holder.
