Thailand Typhoon “Kagi” Threat: Heavy Rain & Flood Warnings

Severe Storm Threatens Widespread Flooding ‍across Thailand ⁢- August 24-27, ‍2025

Bangkok, Thailand – August 24, 2025 -​ A notable storm system is poised to bring heavy to very heavy ‌rainfall and potential widespread flooding to much of Thailand over the next four days, August 24th through 27th, ‍2025. The Meteorological Department issued a warning this evening at 17:00 hrs, urging residents⁣ in affected areas to prepare for potential flash floods and overflowing waterways, particularly in hilly terrain, near rivers and ‌streams, and in low-lying areas.

The storm’s impact will⁢ be felt across multiple regions, with some areas experiencing indirect effects. Initial impacts are expected in the North, with‍ Hu, Loei, Nan, Chiang Mai, and Mae Hong Son provinces already bracing for heavy rainfall. The eastern and western portions of‍ the southern region will ⁢also be indirectly affected.

August 24, 2025:

Central Region: Suphan ⁤Buri, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Nakhon Pathom, Samut Sakhon, and Samut ‍Songkhram provinces, including Bangkok and its surrounding areas.
Eastern Region: Nakhon Nayok, Prachinburi, Chanthaburi,​ and Trat provinces.
southern Region: Chumphon, Surat Thani, Ranong, Phang Nga,‌ and Phuket provinces.

August 25, 2025:

Northeast: Loei, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Nong ‌Bua Lamphu, Udon Thani, Sakon nakhon, Nakhon Phanom,‍ Mukdahan, Nakhon Ratchasima, and Ubon Ratchathani provinces.
Central Region: Kanchanaburi,Ratchaburi,Samut Songkhram,Samut Sakhon,Nakhon Pathom,including Bangkok and its surrounding provinces. Eastern Region: Nakhon Nayok, Prachinburi, Chanthaburi, and ‍Trat provinces.
Southern Region: Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Ranong, Phang⁣ Nga, Phuket, and Krabi provinces.

August 26-27, 2025:

Northern Region: Mae Hong son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Lamphun, Lampang, Phayao, Nan, ⁢Phrae, Uttaradit, Sukhothai, Tak, kamphaeng Phet, Phichit, Phitsanulok, and phetchabun provinces.
Northeast: Loei, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Nong Bua Lamphu, Udon Thani, Sakon Nakhon,⁣ Nakhon Phanom, Khon Kaen, Kalasin, Mukdahan, Yasothon, Amnat Charoen, and Ubon Ratchathani provinces. Central region: nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Chainat, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, including Bangkok and its surrounding⁣ provinces.
Eastern Region: Nakhon‌ Nayok,Prachinburi,Sa⁣ Kaeo,Chachoengsao,Chon Buri,Rayong,Chanthaburi,and Trat provinces.
Southern Region: Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Ranong, Phang Nga, and Phuket provinces.

Marine Warning:

In addition to the ‌heavy rainfall, the meteorological​ Department warns of strong wind waves in the upper Andaman ​Sea and the upper⁤ Gulf of Thailand, reaching heights of 2-3 ⁤meters, with waves exceeding 3 meters during thunderstorms. Sailors are advised to exercise extreme caution,⁢ and small boats are urged to remain docked until conditions improve.
