Thai Boxing Club Soual: Young Boxers Earn First Grade

by Alex Carter - Sports Editor

Soual, France – The Thai Boxing Club of soual (GMTS), established as an official association in September 2014, recently celebrated a significant milestone for its young practitioners, awarding them their first official grade: the “Prajeet,” a bracelet worn on the right biceps. This recognition marks the culmination of dedicated learning throughout the season under the guidance of three passionate and certified instructors.

Known as the “boxing of the eight limbs,” Muay Thai utilizes fists, elbows, knees, and shins, complemented by clinching techniques and throws. The modern sport version, Muay Thai sportif, is a refined adaptation of the ancient martial art, Muay Boran Katcha, with roots tracing back to the 5th century.

The GMTS club currently boasts nearly 50 members who train in a supportive, family-like atmosphere, honing their skills in this highly effective martial art, notably noted for its self-defense applications. The club’s coaching staff includes an instructor certified by the CNMT, France’s oldest Muay Thai sports association, as well as an instructor and national judge for the FFKMDA (French Federation of kick, Muay and assimilated disciplines) and an instructor for the FFKADA (French Federation of Kick Boxing, Muay-Thai and associated disciplines). The latter’s status as a delegate federation of the Ministry of Youth and Sports underscores the high caliber of instruction and technical training provided.

Looking ahead, the club is set to host an initiation and advanced training camp this summer at the Saint-Ferréol lake. This event is open to all, irrespective of prior experience or membership status.
