TGSRTC plans to use their premises for EV charging stations using the revenue division model

The Telangan State Road Corporation (TGSRTC) plans to set up 31 public EV charging stations in its premises to strengthen the charging infrastructure of electric vehicles (EV).

The initiative corresponds to both the central and state government’s efforts to promote EV adoption and reduce vehicle emissions. While the Heavy Industries Department has already sanctioned more than 2,800 charging stations in several cities, Telangan’s electric vehicle policy 2024 further exacerbates that pressure.

According to the TGSRTC document, the proposed charging stations will be located in the bus depot, regional workshops and stations in areas, including hackimpet, shamirpet, korutlu, Godavarikhani, Toopran, Balconda, Suryapet, Nagarjunasagar, Jadcherla and Narayanpet and Naarayanpet and Naarayanpet.

The TGSRTC plans to cooperate with the paid point operators (CPO), who will be responsible for the installation of charging stations in accordance with the corporation specifications, as well as their management and maintenance in accordance with the revenue division model.

The proposed CPO Treaty Interval is 10 years, under the extension rule. To ensure that the premises remain functional and accessible to the public, the TGSRTC has set out a number of operating conditions. The revenue from these stations will be divided between the Transport Juggernaut and the chosen contractors/ partners.

TGSRTC pressure strengthening the EV charging ecosystem is a significant increase in the number of electric vehicles on telangan roads. According to the Minister of Transport, Ponna’s Prabhakara Bureau from November 2024 to June 2025, 49,633 EV were sold in the state. Of these, 91 were electric buses, the Wager bicycle residents formed the majority with 37,305 units. Slightly less than 10,000 quadringes were also recorded in the same period.

In addition, the number of electric auto autorichshaws on city roads is expected to increase, and the department has approved permits of 20,000 new electric cars. Permissions for another 25,000 modernized electric autorichshaws have been cleared.
