Texas Tech Football Announces New Scheduling Agreement with Arkansas
Lubbock, Texas – Texas Tech and Arkansas have announced a revised football scheduling agreement encompassing three future contests. The series will kick off with a matchup in the inaugural Vegas Kickoff Classic in 2030, followed by a home-and-home series in 2031 and 2034.
The 2030 game will be played at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on August 31st, marking Texas Tech’s first appearance in the city and only its second in the state of Nevada, having previously defeated Nevada in Reno in 2008. Texas Tech Athletic Director kirby Hocutt highlighted the financial benefits of playing in Las Vegas while maintaining a seven-game home schedule for the season.This agreement fills a previously open date on the red Raiders’ 2030 schedule. Texas Tech is finalizing a separate non-conference opponent too take the place of Arkansas’ originally scheduled visit to Lubbock on September 14th,ensuring the program continues its commitment to hosting seven home games annually.
The series continues with Texas Tech traveling to Fayetteville to play at Donald W. reynolds Razorback Stadium on September 13, 2031.Arkansas will then return to Jones AT&T Stadium in Lubbock on September 16, 2034, completing the agreed-upon contests.
Texas Tech and Arkansas have a long-standing football rivalry,having met 38 times previously.Their most recent encounter was at the 2024 AutoZone Liberty Bowl in Memphis, the only game in the series not played in Fayetteville or Lubbock.With the 2030 opponent finalized, Texas Tech will have a completed non-conference schedule for the next five seasons. Four of those years will feature seven home games, with the exception of 2027, which will see six home games including matchups against Arkansas-pine Bluff and N.C. State, alongside a road game against north Texas in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
