Teoscar Hernandez: Golden Glove Pursuit & MLB News | Passion MLB
GLENDALE, Ariz. – Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Teoscar Hernández reported to spring training noticeably leaner, having lost 12 pounds in the offseason, according to reports from Dodgers camp. The weight loss comes after a 2025 season that Hernández described as below his personal standards.
Hernández, 33, is entering his second season with the Dodgers after being acquired from the Seattle Mariners. He is a two-time All-Star, having earned the honor in 2021 and 2024, and a three-time Silver Slugger Award winner (2020, 2021, 2024). He played a key role in the Dodgers’ World Series victories in both 2024 and 2025.
The outfielder’s 2025 batting average was .261, with 217 career home runs and 661 runs batted in through the end of the 2025 season, according to Baseball Reference. While a productive player, Hernández acknowledged a desire to improve his overall performance. The weight reduction is part of a focused effort to regain peak physical condition.
Prior to joining the Dodgers, Hernández played for the Houston Astros (2016-2017) and the Toronto Blue Jays (2017-2022). He debuted in MLB with the Astros in 2016. His versatility has seen him consistently contribute offensively, earning recognition as one of the league’s top power hitters.
Hernández’s arrival at a reduced weight signals a commitment to addressing any physical factors that may have contributed to his performance in the previous season. The Dodgers will be closely monitoring his progress throughout spring training as they prepare to defend their World Series title.
