Tehran Hospital Targeted in Strikes Amid US-Israeli Campaign | ISNA News

March 1, 2026 Dr. Michael Lee – Health Editor Health

Strikes hit Gandhi Hospital in northern Tehran on Sunday, the second day of a joint US-Israeli military campaign against Iran, Iranian news agency ISNA reported.

The attack on the hospital, described by ISNA as “Zionist-American air strikes,” comes after the reported death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in earlier strikes, according to multiple reports. Visuals published by Fars and Mizan agencies, purportedly from inside the facility, show debris on the floor among wheelchairs.

The strikes on Gandhi Hospital were reported as other developments unfolded across the region. The UAE closed its embassy in Iran following attacks across the Gulf that killed four people, according to AFP. Eight Iran-backed fighters were killed in strikes in Iraq, leading to mounting anger there, also reported by AFP.

France, Germany, and the UK stated their readiness to accept “defensive action” against Iran, according to AFP. Meanwhile, reactions to Khamenei’s death ranged from cheers and music to anger, as reported by AFP correspondents around the world.

Former U.S. President Donald Trump stated, according to NBC News, that “we expect casualties” after three U.S. Service members died. Trump also reportedly indicated that the war on Iran could last four weeks.
