Jakarta – Actor Teddy Syach married Anne Kurniasih on November 27, 2022, following the death of his first wife, Rina Gunawan, in 2021. Syach recently revealed the circumstances surrounding his decision to marry Kurniasih, stating he quickly decided to propose after being introduced by a friend.
“I was introduced by a friend. It happened quickly, as I wasn’t particularly interested in a lengthy courtship,” Syach said during an appearance on the Trans7 program, For Your Pagi (FYP).
Kurniasih echoed this sentiment, explaining that neither she nor Syach were actively seeking a partner when they met. “Actually, we were both not looking for partners. Teddy wasn’t and neither was I. It was simply fate, a meeting orchestrated by God. We hadn’t even met before,” Kurniasih stated.
Kurniasih has consistently expressed respect for the memory of Rina Gunawan. She does not view herself as a replacement for Syach’s late wife, but rather as a complement to the family. “My main focus is respecting my husband’s past and his children. I’m not here to replace anyone, but to add to the family, to continue supporting the children as Bunda [the late Rina Gunawan] did,” Kurniasih explained.
She described Gunawan as a kind and remarkable woman, stating she doesn’t believe she can be compared to her. “I see Bunda as a good person, a truly amazing woman. Comparing myself to her isn’t something I do; she is far greater than I am,” she said.
In a 2024 appearance on the podcast ALVIN in LOVE, Kurniasih further emphasized Gunawan’s importance, acknowledging her as an integral part of Syach’s life. “Bunda was a part of Teddy’s life, and I believe she is a part of his soul. I must acknowledge her. If possible, I want her to be a part of me as well,” Kurniasih said.
Prior to marrying Kurniasih, Syach sought the approval of his two children, Aqshal Ilham Syafatullah and Karnisya Rahmasyach, from his marriage with Gunawan. According to Syach, obtaining their blessing was not difficult, as his children are now adults with their own lives. “It was easy because the children, now that they’re older, have their own lives and concerns. I have my life, and they have theirs. I married with their consent,” Syach said in a YouTube interview with insertlive.
Syach emphasized the importance of communication between his future wife and his children. “The key is communication, how the prospective wife and the children communicate well,” he added.
Syach stated he felt a strong connection with Kurniasih and believed she would be a good mother to his children. “When you feel something, it’s indescribable. It’s my experience, that she could be a mother and a wife,” Syach said. “My children are my blood and the blood of the late [Rina Gunawan]. Logically, I look at my children. If they don’t object, I consider that their approval.”
