Taylor Swift to Release ‘Eras Tour‘ Docuseries and Expanded Concert Film on Disney+
Taylor Swift fans have two new projects to look forward to as the “Eras Tour” concludes its initial run: a six-episode behind-the-scenes docuseries and an updated concert film, both coming to Disney+. “Good morning America” announced Monday that the docuseries, titled “Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour | The End of an Era,” will premiere with its first two episodes on December 12.
The second project, ”Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour | The Final Show,” is a concert film featuring footage from the tour, now including performances of songs from her 2024 album, “The Tortured Poets Department.” This updated film was shot in Vancouver following the album’s release. This differs from the 2023 film, ”Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour,” which was compiled from shows at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, and released prior to “The Tortured Poets Department.”
The announcements follow the massive success of Swift’s 12th studio album, “the Life of a Showgirl,” released October 3, which sold 2.7 million copies in traditional album sales on its first day - breaking her own record for first-week sales. According to Luminate, the album also broke the record for the most vinyl album copies sold in a single week in the U.S., with 1.2 million copies sold on its first day, surpassing the 859,000 copies of “The Tortured Poets Department” sold during its debut week.
“The Tortured Poets Department” itself amassed 2.61 million equivalent album units in the U.S. during its first week of release. “The Life of a Showgirl” was released in multiple variants, including exclusive editions at Target – three CDs titled “It’s Frightening,” “It’s Rapturous” and “it’s Beautiful,” alongside an exclusive vinyl release, “The Crowd Is Your King.” Other vinyl variants include “The Tiny Bubble in Champagne Collection,” “The Baby That’s Show Business Collection,” ”The Shiny Bug Collection,” and a standard LP and cassette in “sweat and vanilla perfume Portofino orange vinyl.”
