Taylor Swift ‘Opalite’ Music Video: Extended Cut & Behind-the-Scenes Revealed

February 14, 2026 Julia Evans – Entertainment Editor Entertainment

Taylor Swift has released an extended version of her music video for “Opalite,” offering fans a deeper look behind the scenes of the 90s-inspired production. The expanded cut, announced via Swift’s Instagram account, promises “dance lessons, our phenomenal cameos, camcorder footage, gigantic scrunchies & fanny pack angles,” according to Billboard Canada.

The original video, the second single from Swift’s album “The Life Of A Showgirl,” premiered earlier this month and featured a cast including Graham Norton, Domhnall Gleeson, Greta Lee, Jodie Turner-Smith, Lewis Capaldi and Cillian Murphy. Swift described the inspiration for the video as “crash landing” into her imagination while she was doing press for the album, explaining to fans that Norton’s UK late-night show felt like a “dinner party” with a rotating group of guests.

The extended version, currently available on Apple Music, Tidal, Spotify, and Amazon Music, reveals details about the video’s concept and production. According to the new footage, Cillian Murphy, though not physically present during filming, was acknowledged with a poster in the video’s fake mall setting. The extended cut also showcases a moment from an October appearance on “The Graham Norton Show” where Gleeson jokingly expressed hope for a role in a Swift music video, a comment that apparently sparked the idea for his inclusion.

Behind-the-scenes footage shows Gleeson expressing surprise at the prospect of dancing in the video, stating, “This dance thing is new. I want everyone to know that.” Swift further clarifies the video’s central theme, explaining that “Nope-alite is for people who want to choose to be unhealed, Opalite is for people who want to choose a path that serves them.” The video utilizes an infomercial format to promote ‘Opalite’ as “the revolutionary fix for your problems,” claiming it works on “friendships, couples, pets, and co-workers.”

Part two of the extended version features Swift directing Capaldi, Turner-Smith, and Lee during their cameo appearances. Graham Norton also appears, commenting on the detailed nature of Swift’s creative process, noting it was “so close to what we’re actually doing,” a rarity in his experience.

The release of “The Life Of A Showgirl” in October 2025 was a significant success, becoming the best-selling album of the year in the UK, marking Swift as the first artist to achieve consecutive years of top album sales since ABBA in 1977. She was also recently inducted into the Songwriters Hall Of Fame as the youngest female artist to receive the honor. Graham Norton has previously praised Swift’s ability to maintain a sense of normalcy despite her global fame, describing her as “remarkably…close to normal” during an appearance on the Kyle and Jackie O radio show.
