Taylor Sheridan is set to move his television and film production to NBCUniversal in a important long-term deal, ending a decade-long run with Paramount Television. The agreement, first reported by Puck, will see Sheridan transition to NBCUniversal starting in 2028, after fulfilling his current contractual obligations with Paramount.
Sheridan has become a dominant force in television, creating and showrunning a string of successful series for Paramount, including “Yellowstone” and its spinoffs, “Tulsa King,” “Lioness,” ”Landman,” and “Mayor of Kingstown.” The move comes as Paramount undergoes a transformation following its acquisition by Skydance Media, and a core team of executives who supported Sheridan’s work have as departed.
The deal was spearheaded by NBCUniversal entertainment chief Donna Langley. While NBCUniversal and Paramount both declined to comment, the film component of the agreement is expected to take effect next year, with the television portion following in 2028. Sheridan’s representatives at CAA initiated discussions for a new overall deal arrangement.
Known for his fast-paced production style and auteur-driven approach, Sheridan has invested in two Texas ranches utilized as filming locations and production assets for his shows. “Yellowstone,” which debuted on the Paramount Network in 2018, established Sheridan’s signature Western style, with much of his subsequent work finding a home in the streaming realm. A “Yellowstone”-adjacent drama, “Y: Marshals,” is slated to premiere on CBS next spring.
Despite the shift, Paramount retains a ample backlog of Sheridan-created content, with numerous projects planned for release in 2026 and beyond.
