Tarlov and Parnas Warn Grok AI Could Fuel Midterm Misinformation
Fox News contributor Jessica Tarlov warned on a recent episode of “Raging Perspective” that xAI owner Elon Musk and his artificial intelligence chatbot Grok will have a major impact on generating misinformation ahead of the November midterm elections. The wrap reported that Tarlov and co-host Aaron Parnas expressed deep concern over the platform’s capacity to spread viral falsehoods.
Parnas Fears AI Videos of Voter Fraud Will Spread
Parnas stated during the podcast that an AI-generated video depicting voter fraud terrifies him because of how fast it would spread across social media. He argued that major platforms will not remove such content, specifically naming the platform owner. “Elon Musk isn’t going to take an AI-generated video of somebody committing voter fraud,” Parnas said, adding that Democrats lack the infrastructure to combat that digital momentum. Tarlov agreed with that assessment, emphasizing the scale of what malicious actors could accomplish with advanced technology.
While discussing broader political shifts, Tarlov noted that many major technology companies attempt to align themselves with Democrats as the political pendulum swings. However, she identified Musk as the sole tech trillionaire who refuses to adjust. “While the tide does seem to be turning against the Trump administration … Elon Musk is the only one who is not,” Tarlov said. “He is digging in deeper.”
Integration Into Federal Operations and Past Controversies
Tarlov warned that Musk intends for Grok to operate deeply within government systems. The chatbot rolled out on September 29 and has since integrated its underlying xAI models into federal websites like America.gov and broader government operations through official partnerships. Alongside this expansion, Tarlov characterized the chatbot’s output with severe criticism, stating that “Grok’s hallucinations are some of the most vile stuff you could imagine” and asserting that “Grok’s core is a white nationalist.”
