Tara Moore: British Tennis Player Banned Over Doping Allegations

British Tennis Player’s Ban Extended After Failed Appeal

A British tennis player‘s ban has been extended after her appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) was unsuccessful.

The player stated she had suffered “19 months of lost time and emotional distress,” and that her reputation had been damaged.

She returned to the tour in April 2024 and has since played mostly on the ITF World Tour.

Earnings for doubles players are generally meager, though she did reach the main draw of Wimbledon and the U.S. Open last year, and the Australian Open this january.

Following a March hearing, the CAS ruling means she will be unable to compete until the start of the 2028 season.

The CAS panel found the player did not prove the nandrolone concentration in her sample was from contaminated meat.

The panel concluded that Ms. Moore failed to establish the anti-doping rule violation was not intentional.

Consequently, the ITIA‘s appeal was upheld, and the independent tribunal’s decision was
