Tanjong Pagar Distripark halts outdoor music events over noise complaints
Outdoor music events at Singapore’s Tanjong Pagar Distripark have halted after venue management imposed stricter operating restrictions following a series of neighborhood noise complaints, Channel NewsAsia reported.
The suspension impacts independent music collectives that utilize the Keppel Road venue for large-scale gatherings. The Cream Team, which has hosted its recurring Ice Cream Sundays dance events at the site since 2023, received notification on Oct. 16 that upcoming gatherings could no longer proceed under existing formats.
Management Cites Community Disamenity
Mapletree, the owner of the Tanjong Pagar Distripark property which also houses the Singapore Art Museum, addressed the situation in an Instagram statement on Oct. 30. The property owner acknowledged that loud music from live outdoor events occasionally causes disamenity to neighbors and the surrounding community.
Mapletree stated that it takes these concerns seriously and has requested licensees and tenants to temporarily pause any events that might disturb nearby residents. The management did not specify an exact duration for the pause.

Organizers Adjust Event Layouts After Anonymous Noise Complaints
Co-founder Jake Camacho told CNA that the collective first learned of local grievances in August through an anonymous email sent to organizers and government agencies. The correspondence referenced multiple events held across the Distripark.
In response to the feedback, organizers moved their Oct. 3 gathering behind Block 37 to create a physical barrier against residential blocks situated across the road. The group also reconfigured its speaker placement and recorded decibel levels every two hours during events to monitor noise emissions.
Venues Grow Scarcer for Independent Organizers
The venue previously accommodated 1,000 to 1,200 attendees within the car park area between Blocks 37 and 39.
Culture SG co-founder Vera Suria noted that finding similarly sized spaces near the city center at affordable rates remains difficult for independent operators. While the Cream Team searches for new sites with developers and government agencies, the collective has shifted its interim focus toward family-friendly workshops and community activities.
