Rosenborg goalkeeper Nicolai Tangvik is enjoying a remarkable week, earning a spot on the Norwegian national team while together focusing on his club performance. The call-up comes as Tangvik continues to play regularly for Rosenborg, demonstrating that consistent appearances in the Eliteserien can still lead to national team recognition.
Tangvik expressed his desire to continue playing for Rosenborg, emphasizing the importance of regular football. While acknowledging the potential benefits of playing in a league like the Bundesliga, he highlighted that his current form with Rosenborg was sufficient to earn him a place in the national team squad. This underscores a pathway for Eliteserien players to compete for national team spots, even without playing in higher-profile European leagues.
“I would like to, yes,” Tangvik stated firmly when asked about continuing with Rosenborg.
The goalkeeper acknowledged uncertainty about whether playing for Rosenborg or another club would be more advantageous in securing a place in the World Cup squad. However, he remains focused on playing consistently.
“I haven’t really thought about it. The most important thing is that you play football and I do that in rosenborg. There are many players from the Eliteserien on the national team. Of course,it’s better if you play permanently in the Bundesliga, but right now I’m playing in Rosenborg and I was taken out.It shows that it is indeed possible,” Tangvik concluded.
