Chennai, India – The Advanced Master Health Check-up center at the Tamil Nadu Government Multi Super Speciality Hospital (TNGMSSH), located at Omandurar Estate, has expanded its services to include a specialized screening program aimed at the early detection of cancer. This initiative addresses the growing concern over increasing cancer incidence.

The TNGMSSH health check-up center, which commenced operations on June 8, 2018, previously offered four health check-up packages: Gold, Diamond, Platinum, and Platinum Plus. Thes packages range in price from Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 4,000 and include a broad spectrum of diagnostic tests such as complete blood count, blood sugar analysis, urine analysis, lipid profile, liver and renal function tests, thyroid function tests, bone profile, ECG, ECHO, X-ray, ultrasound, Dexa scan, eye tests, treadmill tests, and lung function tests. To date, the center has screened over 75,000 individuals.

Recognizing the critical importance of early diagnosis, the hospital has introduced the “Titanium” package, specifically designed to screen for tumor markers. This new package was officially launched by R. Mani, Director of TNGMSSH, on July 23. The Titanium package utilizes a simple blood test to identify occult tumors in their nascent stages, often before any symptoms manifest. Priced at Rs. 2,500, this package has the capability to detect more than 10 types of cancers early on. for comparison, similar tests in private laboratories typically cost between rs. 20,000 and Rs. 25,000.

The comprehensive Titanium cancer screening package includes a series of blood tests for specific tumor markers. These include Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) for prostate cancer, CA 125 for ovarian cancer, CA 19.9 for pancreatic cancer, Alpha Feto Protein (AFP) for liver cancer, and thyroglobulin for thyroid cancer.Additionally, the package incorporates a pap smear for cervical cancer screening and a mammogram for breast cancer detection. An oral examination and consultation with a doctor are also part of the package. To facilitate thorough screening, an ENT specialist has been appointed to conduct oral and laryngeal examinations.

Hospital officials noted that the cancer screening tests have been structured to allow for customized follow-up testing. If an individual requires re-testing after a few months, only the specific necessary tests can be performed, offering versatility and potentially reducing future costs for patients.
