Tamil Nadu Cabinet Expansion: CM Vijay Adds New Ministers, Congress Joins Government
The Tamil Nadu Cabinet, under the leadership of Chief Minister Vijay, has expanded to 33 members, a development that includes the Congress party in the state government for the first time in 59 years.
Among the key appointments in the restructured administration is Marie Wilson, the Managing Director of the Jeppiaar Institute, who has been assigned the finance portfolio.
The expansion has resulted in the exclusion of several political allies. Both the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) and the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) were not included in the new 33-member ministerial lineup.
During the official oath-taking ceremony, the Tamil Nadu Governor issued a correction to a Congress leader. After the leader made references to Rahul Gandhi and Kamaraj during the proceedings, the Governor intervened, stating that such remarks were not part of the prescribed oath of office.
The administration now moves forward with this expanded ministerial structure and its new political configuration.
