Tales of the Shire: The Lord of the Rings Game Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Guide

April 7, 2026 Rachel Kim – Technology Editor Technology

Tales of the Shire: A The Lord of the Rings Game has launched for the Nintendo Switch 2, introducing a dedicated Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of the title.

The release includes a free upgrade path for players who previously purchased the game for the original Nintendo Switch, allowing them to transition to the updated hardware version without additional cost.

Described as a cosy experience set within the universe of The Lord of the Rings, the game’s arrival on the new platform was accompanied by a launch trailer highlighting the transition to the Nintendo Switch 2 hardware.

The deployment of the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition occurs this month, following reviews of the title on the previous generation of Nintendo hardware.

The availability of the free upgrade remains the primary mechanism for existing owners to access the new edition.
