Tusk Condemns Gaza Situation,Faults Hamas and Israel
Warsaw,Poland -โค Polish prime Minister donald tusk delivered โคa stark โassessment of the situation in the Gaza โขStrip, criticizing bothโ Hamasโค and Israel’s actions, and stating that “terrible things are happening.” Tusk reaffirmed his consistent supportโข for Israel’s right to defendโ itself against terrorism, but โขunequivocally condemned the scale of civilianโค casualtiesโ in Gaza.
Tuskโค stated, “It has no descriptionโฆ We all โno thatโฃ the beginning of this conflict is the crimeโ of โขHamas on the civilian population of Israel. we know this. โWe know underโข what โpressure from iran and โsome Arab countries and terrorists Israel โขhas been functioning for many, many years. But what is happening in Gaza is absolutely unacceptable.”โฃ
He further emphasized the damage toโข Israel’sโ image, saying it “ruins the image and history of Israel’sโ efforts and the state of Israel.” Tusk asserted there is “no excuse for the killing of children, for the chant of the hunger of civilians,” while acknowledging Hamas’s responsibility, stating, “Hamas is responsible for weather it is co-responsible, yes – we know that. And this is still โขnot an โexcuse for what Israel decided in Gaza itself.”
The โฃcriticism โcomes as the conflict enters its seventh month, with the Palestinian Ministry of Health reporting over 65,000 Palestinianโข deaths and more than 165,000 injuries resulting from Israel’s offensive launchedโค after the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack on โขIsrael, which killed approximately 1,200 people.
Aid organizations โand media outletsโ areโฃ reporting a severe humanitarian crisis in Gaza, characterized by widespread hunger and mass displacement.โ Concerns are growingโฃ over the lack of safe zones, with even areas designated asโ “Humanitarian Zones” facing potential attacks.
The Israeli government maintains that Gaza serves as a stronghold for Hamas โand that its capture is essential to dismantling the Palestinian terrorist organization. โคThe offensive has drawn criticism from theโค UN, the European Union, and Great Britain, among others.
