A false report of the death of Czech actress Dagmar Patrasová, 69, circulated on social media this week, prompting a response from both the actress herself and Czech police. The claim, initially published by an unnamed Slovakian Facebook page, stated that “the entire Czech show business is in tears,” according to reports from Czech and Slovak news outlets.
Patrasová, responding to the fabricated news, stated, “Now my husband told me it’s true that this false information was circulating on social networks. I feel very healthy. So it’s a blatant lie.” She added, with unexpected levity, “By the way, We see said that if someone is buried alive, that person will live a long time.”
Czech police addressed the incident, clarifying that while spreading false information about someone’s death can cause harm, it doesn’t automatically constitute a criminal offense. “If I state untrue information about the death of a person somewhere, I primarily harm that person and they can then seek their rights within civil proceedings, for example, an apology, compensation for damages,” explained David Schön, a spokesperson for the Czech Police Presidium, to PrahaIN.cz. “It does not signify that such an act can automatically be qualified as the commission of a criminal offense, such as spreading false alarm, which you mention.”
The incident comes after a difficult period for Patrasová, who recently received a role in the TV Barrandov show, *Arabella*, following the death of her daughter, Anna Slováčková, in September 2025. Prior to her daughter’s passing, Patrasová experienced a public incident involving alcohol consumption, which led to the cancellation of a scheduled appearance on the TV Barrandov program *Sejdeme se na Cibulce*, according to reporting in extra.cz. Aleš Cibulka, the host of the program, publicly defended Patrasová at the time.
